Summer 2008 Newsletter

The summer edition of the Greater Phoenix Multi-Cultural Exchange Newsletter is finally here! Read up on The Breadfruit, the newest Jamaican restaurant to join the downtown atmosphere or start planning your next outing using the various activities listed on the current events page!

The Breadfruit
Come experience a new trend of authenticity in a fresh atmosphere! The Breadfruit philosophy is that good food should be good to eat. You won’t find any deep fryers, microwaves, canned fruits or vegetables in our kitchen. Instead The Breadfruit offers fresh choices prepared the old fashioned way…and yes we pull the corn from the husk so you don’t have to. We can’t take you to our island so we’re bringing the spirit and its essence to you through good food, and music for your soul.

The Breadfruit is located at 108 E Pierce Street, Phoenix, AZ 85004

Native American Basketball Tournament

Co-founded in 2003 by Mark West, a former NBA player and the Phoenix Suns vice president of player programs, and GinaMarie Scarpa-Mabry, director of the tournament, the NABI is the only all-Native American basketball tournament organized for the purpose of creating scholarship opportunities. NABI is the largest NCAA certified all Native American Basketball tournament comprised of high school athletes; competing for the 2008 NABI Championship title and exposure to college scouts in the world! This summer we will have 80 teams competing for the NABI title (from as far away as Alaska and Canada) and will be receiving exposure to college scouts and coaches. The NABI Championship games will be played on an official NBA & WNBA court, the home of the Phoenix Suns and Phoenix Mercury, at US Airways Center. Games begin at 8:00 a.m. Admission is $12.50 and children 6 and under are free!
