PHOENIX (Oct. 15, 2009) — If your idea of fantasy sports is sitting through draft “parties” in a coworker’s basement, squinting at stats as they scroll across the bottom of a TV screen or losing sleep over a decision to trade Willis McGahee for Reggie Bush, then the Greater Phoenix Convention & Visitors Bureau has a game-changing proposition for you.
The Greater Phoenix CVB’s Fantasy Sports Giveaway puts the “fan” back in fantasy sports by giving meeting planners the chance to attend an NFL-Fiesta Bowl doubleheader, visit pit row during a NASCAR event, or join the famously boisterous gallery at the FBR Open.
These are the ground rules: Meeting professionals who submit an RFP to the Greater Phoenix CVB’s sales staff between now and Dec. 15, 2009 will be entered for a chance to win one of three VIP sports-themed getaways to America’s sunniest metropolis:
- Football Fan Fantasy Trip
- NASCAR Motorhead Dream Trip
- The Greatest Show on Grass Golf Getaway
The Football Fan Fantasy Trip features two tickets to the NFL showdown between the Arizona Cardinals and Green Bay Packers on Jan. 3 and VIP tickets to college football’s Fiesta Bowl on Jan. 4. Both games are played at University of Phoenix Stadium. The package also includes a commemorative football from Super Bowl XLII.
The NASCAR Motorhead Dream Trip features tickets and Pit Passes for two to the Subway Fresh Fit 500 on April 10, 2010, at Phoenix International Speedway. The package also includes pre-race VIP food-and-beverage privileges at the track.
The Greatest Show on Grass Getaway features a pair of tickets to the FBR Open at the TPC Scottsdale on Feb. 25-28, 2010. The package also includes VIP food-and-beverage passes, a round of golf for two and a custom-fitted driver.
All three giveaways include airfare and accommodations for two, plus transportation to and from the events.
“Phoenix is a great sports city and a great meetings destination,” said Donald Oswald, Associate Director of Convention Sales for the Greater Phoenix CVB. “So, for meeting planners who appreciate both, this is a win-win proposition.”
Meeting professionals also can enter the Fantasy Sports Giveaway by submitting an RFP at the Greater Phoenix CVB’s booth at the Association Forum of Chicagoland’s Holiday Showcase. That event takes place Dec. 15 at the Hyatt Regency Chicago, and the Greater Phoenix CVB will be occupying Booth 602.
“I think the secret to a worthwhile contest is creating one you would like to win yourself,” said John Harmon, Director of Resort Sales for the Greater Phoenix CVB. “And I’d love to win this one.”
