Scottsdale Culinary Festival featuring the Great Arizona Picnic: Through April 13 (Picnic: April 12-13)
One of Greater Phoenix’s spring traditions has returned for its 36th year, and foodies are as excited as ever. The Scottsdale Culinary Festival has grown into a celebration of more than 20 events, with more than 100 participating restaurants and 40,000 guests clamoring for delectable fare and drink. The festival is highlights each year by the weekend’s Great Arizona Picnic. Patrons of the picnic wine and dine on tasty bites and beverages from more than 50 restaurants as they stroll through 25 acres of Scottsdale’s picturesque Civic Mall.
Big Band Saturday at The Farm at South Mountain: April 12
Strap on your dancin’ shoes and head to the green acres of The Farm at South Mountain’s pecan grove for a day of free live music. Swing orchestra Upper East Side Big Band will be getting feet moving with vintage jazz, early blues and be-bop. After cutting a rug and working up a hunger, stick around for lunch at The Farm Kitchen or fuel up beforehand at Morning Glory Cafe.

Chalk Art Festivals at Desert Ridge Marketplace and Westgate Entertainment Center: April 12
The walkways of Desert Ridge Marketplace and Westgate Entertainment Center will come alive with color this weekend at the inaugural Chalk Art Festival. Bring out the family to watch as six professional artists at Desert Ridge and seven at Westgate will each create a unique sidewalk mural. Little Picassos will also get to create their own art with their contribution to the community mural at each location’s KidZone area. The professional murals will stay on display through April 30.
Dia del Nino at the Phoenix Zoo: April 13
Families will get extra bang for their buck at the Phoenix Zoo this Sunday. Little ones will get to enjoy Dia del Nino activities such as pinata bashing and face painting while the whole family is entertained by musicians and folkloric dancers throughout the day. Even some of the animals will get a crack at their own pinata!
