Family fun, desert exploration, and pampering spa deals are all part of our top things to do in Phoenix this weekend:

First Fridays and Adults Night Out at Arizona Science Center: August 1
It’s that time again: The First Fridays art walk returns to downtown Phoenix and the Grand Avenue Arts District this week. In addition to the dozens of artist spaces and galleries that open their doors for free, the Arizona Science Center goes adults-only for the evening starting at 5:30.

Admission is free that night, so grab a cocktail and explore the center sans kids. This week, don’t miss the works of Art 360 artists come alive on the dome of the center’s planetarium.

Usery Mountain Regional Park Animal Flashlight Walk: August 1
Explore the desert after dark with the rangers at Usery Mountain Regional Park. See which desert critters come alive under the moonlight at the park’s guided animal flashlight walk this Friday evening. All ages are welcome on the easy-to-trek trail, you’ll just have to leave the pets at home for this walk.

Phoenix DinoCon: August 2
Do you know every line in Jurassic Park? Did your guidance counselor say paleontology is the career for you?  Then it’s time for you to geek out with all things dinosaur at this weekend’s DinoCon, where it’s all about both the facts and fantasy of our extinct friends. Advance tickets are sold out, but there will be a limited number of tickets available at the door, so get there early.

Peter Pan: Through August 17 (except Mondays)
Join, Peter, Wendy, Captain Hook and the rest of the gang for a return to Neverland with Arizona Broadway Theater’s production of this family classic. Make a night (or day) out of it and enjoy lunch or dinner in your seats before the show.
