Family fun and musical acts top our things to do in Phoenix this weekend. We’ve got the details below:
Musical Icon Celebration: Elvis
If you’re all shook up for Elvis Week, stop into the Musical Instrument Museum for a day-long celebration of the King, including crafts for kids, a showing of Elvis film King Creole and a special curator talk. The Museum’s Elvis collection in the Artist Gallery features instruments and more from the star’s legacy.
4725 E. Mayo Blvd, Phoenix 85050
City Lights Movie Nights
For those of us who didn’t make it to Rio for the Summer Olympics, CityScape and Downtown Phoenix are throwing their own festivities with a free movie screening of Rio 2. Keep cool with plash pads and waterslides, and get there early to snag a free Olympic-themed doughnut from Fractured Prune.
Discount Tire Free Family Sunday at Phoenix Art Museum
The Phoenix Art Museum is open for a free day of family exploration and activities the second Sunday of the month. August’s event gets kids hands-on with the theme of “lines” to create music, their own kaleidoscope and more inspired by objects from the museum’s collection.
