From beers to butterflies and body art to baseball, we’ve got the top things to do in Phoenix this weekend:
3rd Street Beer Club Kickoff at District American Kitchen & Wine Bar: August 15
Join downtown’s District American Kitchen as they kick off their new all-Arizona beer list and 3rd Street Beer Club. Partygoers will get a District growler, which can be filled with one of the local brews for $12, and a beer club membership card. After 12 fills/card punches at District, you’ll get your next fill or a new growler for free. Guests at Friday’s party can also sample brews from Mother Road Beer and Cartel Coffee Lab, nosh on appetizers and get in raffles for free growler fills.
Hell City Tattoo Festival: August 15-17
Got ink? Whether you do or you’re just a fan of the art of tattoos, head to the Hell City Tattoo Festival. Top tattoo artists from around the country will be showing off their work and inking attendees throughout the weekend. In addition to all things body art, the festival includes live music, art galleries, burlesque shows, eclectic performances, and even a family-friendly Heck City kids zone.
Elvis® Remembered at the Musical Instrument Museum: August 16
All hail The King! The MIM is celebrating the life and music of the legendary Elvis Presley this Saturday. Hip shake your way to the museum and see the special exhibit, which includes memorabilia such as the guitar he played at his final concert. The museum’s Café Allegro will be serving a special Elvis-inspired Southern comfort food menu.
Tour Chase Field
Though the Diamondbacks are struggling on the field this season, we still love a day — or night — at the ballpark. Chase Field offers fans a chance to go behind the scenes of the unique park with 75-minute guided tours. The guides will take you through the main concourse, player locker rooms, the press area and more. Sorry, dips into the famous outfield pool not included.
Family-fun idea: Visit Butterfly Wonderland
Did you know? The largest butterfly pavilion in America is right here in Greater Phoenix. Opened in May 2013, Butterfly Wonderland has quickly become a favorite attraction of visitors and locals alike. Stroll through the indoor rainforest environment as thousands of colorful butterflies flutter about. In addition to the main attraction, the facility also features a live ant colony, honey bee exhibit and an Amazon aquatic experience featuring Motoro stingrays.
