Free Summer Sunday at Heard Museum
Admission is free from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the cool halls of the Heard Museum. Experience American Indian art and history in the exhibits, and don’t miss the awe-inspiring athleticism of the traditional hoop dance, performed at 12:30 and 2 p.m. by a former world champion.

Catch a home game
The Phoenix Mercury (WNBA) return from an Olympic Break, and they’re back at it Friday against the Dallas Wings and Sunday against the Los Angeles Sparks at Talking Stick Resort Arena. The Arizona Rattlers fight for the championship against the Philadelphia Soul in ArenaBowl XXIX at Gila River Arena on Friday, and the Diamondbacks play the Cincinnati Reds in a weekend series, August 26-28.
Free park and monument admission weekend
The National Park Service is celebrating its centennial birthday with free admission to monuments, parks and sites such as the Grand Canyon through the end of the weekend. Plan a trip from Phoenix to these scenic spots throughout the state.
