Art, music, dining, drinks and shopping: What else can you ask for in a weekend? We’ve got all that and more in our top things to do in Phoenix this weekend:
ARTELPHX: May 15-16
Guest rooms at The Hotel Clarendon are canvases for artists at this unique exhibition. Participating artists transform the rooms into installations that stimulate a variety of senses. Check out the Phoenix New Times’ preview for details of this year’s event.
AmeriCAN Canned Craft Beer Festival: May 16
Long gone are the days when cans were just for the cheap stuff. This festival will feature more than 250 local and national craft brews that show just how far the canned beer has come. SanTan Brewing Company (the event’s host), Barrio Brewing Company, Oskar Blues Brewery, and Ska Brewing are just a few of the favorite brewers scheduled to attend.
Slide the City: May 16
After slippin’ and slidin’ in Fountain Hills a few weeks ago, Slide the City brings their 1,000-foot-long slip ‘n’ slide and water party to downtown Phoenix Saturday. The daytime session has sold out, but they’ve added a special night session. Reserve your spot!
Urban Wine Walk: May 16
Fans of red, white and rose can sip and snack their way through the light rail corridor at Saturday’s Urban Wine Walk. More than 20 restaurants in downtown and central Phoenix will be offering $2-$3 wine samples and snacks from 1-6 p.m. Grab yourself a light rail pass and cover more ground and watering holes.
The Yard Sale: May 16-17
No one will be peddling junk in their driveway at this yard sale. Central Phoenix’s The Yard will be hosting eight local vendors, live local bands, games, and fare from the complex’s Culinary Dropout and Barri Urbano. Frances, Homeboy’s Hot Sauce, and Practical Art are a few of the vendors who’ll be on hand with their goods.
