FOUND:RE Contemporary is pleased to announce its latest art exhibition featuring the works of Phoenix-based artist John Joe. The show will debut on Friday, November 20 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and remain on exhibit during regular gallery hours through Sunday, December 13.
“In my practice, I explore and document objects. I see them as physical spaces that hold information and imagination. I’m interested in disrupting this intersection and inserting a new ‘image,’ which is open to contemporary data and information,” says John Joe of his works. “The ‘image’s’ power is an expansive space.”
John’s artistic practice engages indigenous trauma, memoir, history, and culture by inserting personal cartography and indigenous mapping methods as an act of survivance and reclaiming space. His work aims to activate Indigenous perspectives and dialogue about connecting to the Land and Place using digital technology, audio mapping, and locative media.
