This family-friendly silent reading adventure is held on the 2nd Wednesday of each month. Bring whichever book you've been meaning to finish and join our silent-reading community once a month for a modest, but well-spent, hour of fun in the pages of a good read while in the company of others who also like to read books!
Each month's gathering is serendipitously titled, like chapters in a book, and features an interesting twist that silently tells tales about life and living in Phoenix. To avoid reading silently while hangry, note that Grand Central Coffee Co has a full menu of coffee, non-caffeinated drinks, libations, and eats.
OCTOBER 12 - Chapter 1: Bookmark Arts to Start
In which the creativity of downtown's arts community is highlighted and shared, with one-of-a-kind "official" 2nd Wednesday Silent Reading Club bookmarks (made by PHX artists), to be given to attendees.
NOVEMBER 9 - Chapter 2: The Great Shoes and Socks Collection Caper
In which attendees bring new socks and gently-used shoes, to be re-distributed to homeless who may lack either, even as PHX's night-time temperature drops.
DECEMBER 14 - Chapter 3: Velveteen for the Holidays
In which the golden rule is broken during the last 25 minutes of the night, with the first annual holiday "reading aloud" of The Velveteen Rabbit, to be narrated and voiced out loud by Stacey Champion and Pete Petrisko, for the seasonal delight and amusement of all!
