Join the Arizona Territory Gourd Society for the 19th Annual Veterans Day Gourd Dance on November 11 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Pueblo Grande Museum. This annual event held at the Museum, honors the memory of all the men and women who have served our nation. Gourd dancing is conducted by the Arizona Territory Gourd Society, a non-profit group of American Indian United States War Veterans and their families who celebrate and support the local Arizona veteran community.
Dancing begins at 11:30 a.m. and continues throughout the day with short breaks in between. A small group of Native American vendors will also be at the event, providing attendees an opportunity to purchase authentic merchandise from the artists themselves. As a featured Native American Recognition Days event, this Gourd Dance event offers a unique chance for everyone, in addition to veterans, to enjoy a Native American ceremonial dance, art, and culture at a preserved prehistoric site once inhabited by the Ancient Sonoran Desert People.
This event is free and open to the public, sponsored in part by the Pueblo Grande Museum Auxiliary. In honor of the Veterans Day holiday, Pueblo Grande Museum is offering free Museum admission during special business hours for this event from 11 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. Visit pueblogrande.com or call the Museum at (602) 495-0901 for more information.
