Come see the world premiere of a new series of paintings by New York-based artist, Kehinde Wiley. Wiley reinterprets classical master Memling's works, replacing austere 15th century subjects with 21st century young, urban black men in street clothes.
Come enjoy the first major museum exhibition of the works of rising star Ahmed Alsoudani. The exhibit features work created in 2010 and later by the Iraqi-born artist, who examines the effects of war and violence in his large scale works.
This exhibit examines the symbolism in Chinese paintings from the 14th-19th centuries, which tell a story of love, longing, and loss, all from the Marilyn and Roy Papp Collection.
From Above reveals the myriad of ways aerial photographers have explored our world and our stories through the medium of aerial photography. Includes works by Bradford Washburn, W. Eugene Smith, Emmet Gowin, Edward Steichen and Marilyn Bridges.
Organized by The Smithsonian American Art Museum, this exhibition is the first to explore the 40-year evolution of video games as an artistic medium. 80 games and 20 gaming systems, along with live player participation, illustrate the evolution of the medium.
