Phoenix Convention Center Celebrates One Year Anniversary

The Phoenix Convention Center celebrated its first year anniversary this month with a celebration attended by Phoenix Mayor Phil Gordon, Greater Phoenix CVB President and CEO Steve Moore, Phoenix Convention Center Interim Director John Chan, Arizona Office of Tourism Director Sherry Henry, Phoenix Councilman Michael Johnson and many other dignitaries.

The Children’s Museum of Phoenix will benefit from several creative improvements thanks to the generosity of a convention bound for Phoenix and its new convention center: the Concrete Décor Show and Decorative Concrete Spring Training in March 2010. In advance of the event, several artisans and trainers are visiting the Children’s Museum this week to work on colorful concrete artworks that will be showcased during the March event.
Phoenix City Council clears path for new Westin and Marriott hotel brands downtown

The Phoenix City Council has paved the way for two new hotel brands in the city’s downtown core. The council on Wednesday approved a pair of agenda items that will (1) facilitate development of a 240-room Westin in new downtown tower and (2) allow a 520-room hotel located a block away from the Phoenix Convention Center to be rebranded a Marriott Renaissance.
