Phoenix Meeting Access, Walkability & Transportation

A meeting has enough moving parts.

Phoenix makes the literal moving part easier. The nation’s fifth-largest city keeps things surprisingly close, with plenty happening in between. Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport sits about 10 minutes from downtown, where the Phoenix Convention Center, thousands of hotel rooms, independent and inventive restaurants, entertainment and culture all vibe together in a connected core. Resorts, Camelback Mountain and Sonoran Desert experiences are also within easy reach.

Access is a familiar claim, but the proximity here makes it legit.

Phoenix Convention Center

A Convention Core That Keeps Things Close

Downtown Phoenix puts the pieces of a citywide meeting close together. More than 4,000 hotel rooms are within walking distance of the Phoenix Convention Center (PCC), with restaurants, professional sports venues, arts and cultural spaces woven into the same downtown footprint.

Sessions can move into dinner. A hotel lobby can become the next gathering place. Short distances and multiple transportation options can make transitions simpler for attendees with different mobility needs.

Downtown, From 9-to-5 to 24/7

Downtown doesn’t clock out when the meeting day ends. Attendees can step outside into a city center shared with residents, visitors, diners, sports fans and people heading out for the night.

Roosevelt Row is teeming with murals, galleries, restaurants and independent shops. The Warehouse District is home to historic industrial buildings turned event spaces, dining and a growing tech presence. Around CityScape, restaurants, nightlife, entertainment and professional sports keep the center of downtown active well beyond business hours. And along Historic Grand Avenue, galleries, cafés, small businesses and artist spaces give downtown a more free-spirited, local edge.

There’s somewhere to go, something to see and plenty happening close to the convention center and hotels.

Downtown Phoenix Ambassadors

Support on the Ground

Sometimes access is also about knowing there’s someone nearby when attendees need help. Downtown Phoenix Ambassadors are present seven days a week in high-pedestrian areas around hotels, restaurants, venues and the Phoenix Convention Center. They can provide directions, recommendations and walking escorts, giving attendees another point of support as they navigate downtown.

Skytrain

More Ways to Move

Because people move through a destination in different ways, it helps to meet in a place that gives attendees options. Valley Metro Rail connects Phoenix, Tempe and Mesa, giving attendees another easy way to move outside the downtown core.

And riding to dinner in a self-driving car is so … Phoenix. Waymo vehicles operate downtown and in Scottsdale, with 24/7 curbside pickup and drop-off at the airport. Rideshare, taxis and additional transportation services give attendees even more ways to move through Greater Phoenix.

For attendees with physical and hidden disabilities, Phoenix also offers accessibility resources for airport services, barrier-free public transportation, adaptive recreation and accessible attractions.

Desert Ridge

City Meeting, Desert Within Reach

One of Phoenix’s advantages is how quickly the setting can change. A program can have downtown energy, resort time and a distinctly Sonoran Desert experience without making attendees spend the trip getting from one to the next.

Greater Phoenix has several world-class resorts within 10 to 15 minutes of the airport, with the vast majority less than 30 minutes away. Pools, spas, golf and indoor-outdoor meeting spaces give you even more ways to shape the program.

Then there’s the landscape itself. Camelback Mountain rises between Phoenix, Scottsdale and Paradise Valley, while Sonoran Desert trails, preserves and outdoor venues give groups options for a morning hike, an off-site experience or an evening under the open sky.

Our Visit Phoenix team can help you coordinate all of your options.
