South Mountain

As the highest accessible point within South Mountain Park and Preserve, Dobbins Lookout offers a 2,330-foot vantage point for nightly sunsets, the downtown skyline as well as panoramic views of the Greater Phoenix area. Hike to Dobbins Lookout on the 2.5-mile Holbert Trail, or take the easy route by car. Please note: parking is limited.

Papago Park

A short hike up inside the Hole-in-the-Rock formation gives way to the perfect perch for watching the sun set over downtown Phoenix and the desert oasis below. The trail to this unique red rock formation consists of steps that rise 200 feet in just a short 1/10 of a mile. The park gates close promptly at 7 p.m., so plan your hike accordingly.

Desert Botanical Garden 

Arrive early to explore the beautiful Desert Botanical Garden via five thematic trails that illustrate such topics as conservation, desert living, plants and people of the Sonoran Desert, and desert wildflowers. But be sure to stay long enough to watching the sun set against a backdrop of desert flora and red rock buttes.
