From an intimate neighborhood gallery to an internationally recognized art museum, Phoenix hosts a flourishing art scene. The Valley’s best-known art district is nestled in the heart of downtown Phoenix.

If you want to hit multiple Phoenix art galleries in one evening, there’s no better place than the First Friday Art Walk, held on Roosevelt Row and Historic Grand Avenue on the first Friday of each month. 

 

Eye Lounge

Eye lounge is a collective, artist-run, contemporary art space in the heart of Roosevelt Row. The gallery opens with a new exhibition by local artists every month. Eye Lounge has been honored with a "Best of Phoenix" award from the Phoenix New Times and has been recognized as part of the "Best Underground Art Scene" by The Arizona Republic. 

 

Bentley Gallery

Founder Bentley Calverley has an eye for placing and curating — having honed the craft over decades and working with household names (Warhol, anyone?). Bentley Gallery is committed to connecting everyone with art. Here you’ll find a collection of pieces from local, American, and European artists. Featured mediums include painting, sculpture, photography, drawing, textiles, installation art, and video. 

 

Xico

Xico, Inc. is a vibrant hub dedicated to the promotion and celebration of Latino and Indigenous art and culture. The exhibitions here are a lively mix of traditional and contemporary works that highlight the rich cultural tapestry of these communities. From vivid murals to intricate prints and sculptures, Xico’s gallery space is a dynamic showcase of heritage and artistic innovation. Regular events and workshops provide deeper engagement with the artists and their craft.

 

Lisa Sette Gallery

For nearly four decades, Lisa Sette Gallery has been at the forefront of contemporary art in Phoenix. The gallery features a diverse roster of artists whose work spans various media, including painting, sculpture, photography, and installation art. Exhibitions often explore themes of social and political relevance, offering thought-provoking and visually stunning pieces. The minimalist space allows the art to speak for itself, making it a must-visit for contemporary art enthusiasts.

 

BELHAUS

BELHAUS is a unique blend of art gallery and creative studio space in the heart of downtown Phoenix. This multifunctional venue showcases the work of emerging and established local artists, with exhibitions that range from fine art to graphic design and everything in between. BELHAUS also hosts workshops and collaborative projects, fostering a community of creativity and innovation. The eclectic mix of art and design makes BELHAUS a vibrant addition to Phoenix’s art scene. In collaboration with Caffio Espresso, Belhaus also houses Aftermarket, a coffee shop. 

 

CALA Alliance

CALA (Celebración Artística de las Américas) Alliance is a Latinx art organization in Phoenix. The organization hosts three resident artists every year: a regional, Arizona-based artist, a national artist, and an exchange artist. CALA Alliance hosts public programming, community workshops, and exhibitions featuring each artist during their residency. In collaboration with local art galleries and museums such as ASU Art Museum and The Sagrado, CALA Alliance hosts exhibitions three times a year.

 

Modified Arts

Modified Arts opened in 1999 along the district of what has since then become known as "Roosevelt Row" aka downtown Phoenix's art district. The gallery showcases contemporary art and their monthly exhibitions feature regional, national, and international artists of all media and seek to provide a fresh perspective for both new and established collectors. 

 

Practical Art

Practical Art is a retail and gallery space featuring locally-made wares in wood, fiber, ceramic, glass, metal, and up-cycled materials. Along with the regularly featured functional art by over 200 Arizona artists, the gallery also hosts an emerging Arizona visual artist each month for solo shows on their gallery wall. 

 

Palabra

Palabra is a hybrid hair salon, coffee shop, pop-up culinary spot, and art gallery space. The gallery space hosts exhibitions by local artists and occasionally hosts performances, film screenings, and fashion pop-ups.

 

Nurture House

Nurture House is a D.I.T. (do it together) space that believes in the power and necessity of working in community to consciously cultivate and nurture a collective understanding and movement of solidarity, liberation and joy through the elements of words, earth, art and imagination. 

Nurture House is home to Palabras Bilingual Bookstore, Wasted Ink Zine Distro, Andria's Tienda, La Lobita and The Monarca Center For Healing and Justice. The gallery, which hosts art exhibitions, is located in-between Palabras Bilingual Bookstore and Wasted Ink Zine Distro. 

 

The Sagrado 

The Sagrado, located in South Phoenix, was established in 2016. From intimate art shows uplifting creative voices of the Southwest to spiritual painting workshops and sound healing sessions led by some of the Valley’s most talented artists, the Sagrado Galleria hosts art experiences for community members of all ages. Be sure to check out their adobe meditation space in the backyard!

 

Alwun House

Alwun House is a nonprofit arts organization and urban pioneer in downtown Phoenix that has showcased new and emerging artists for over four decades. Located in an historic 1912 house wrapped in lush welcoming gardens, Alwun House showcases both gallery exhibitions and performing arts.

 

FOUND:Re Contemporary 

 

FOUND:RE Contemporary is a gallery space in downtown Phoenix. It represents both emerging and established artists through a regular series of bimonthly exhibitions and special events that happen in conjunction with the art programming at FOUND:RE Phoenix Hotel. Located in the Roosevelt Row Artist district, FOUND:RE Contemporary is a part of every First and Third Friday Artwalk. FOUND:RE Contemporary exhibits visual art as well as film, fashion, music, and more.

 

Cahokia

Cahokia, an indigenous-led and woman-owned gallery, curates and showcases artwork of local Indigenous artists. The rotation of artwork includes a monthly rotation of selected artist installations. The gallery facilitates collaborations between collectives to put on community-themed shows. 

 

Luna Culture Lab

Luna Culture Lab fosters cultural celebration and elevates local artists. A multicultural art gallery in the heart of downtown Phoenix, Luna Culture Lab, regularly features themed exhibits, live performances and educational opportunities.
